A discussion guide is a carefully crafted set of questions the researcher uses during an IDI. It typically consists of an introduction, warm-up, exploratory, and closing questions. The wording and sequence of questions significantly impact the quality of data collected during the interview, and a great deal of research exists that informs related best practices for discussion guide design.
