A pre-test is an evaluation of a questionnaire prior to its use for data collection. The questionnaire is typically tested with a small number of respondents from the sample source to ensure that the questions and responses are clear and comprehended correctly and to verify that there are no programming errors. Some market researchers refer to this as a “soft launch.”
