Questions used to determine respondent eligibility for a particular research study. Screening is done at the beginning of an interview or questionnaire to ensure that potential respondents are qualified. For example, in a study on home security systems, the researcher may have a screener that asks questions to make sure respondents own a home, have a minimum level of income, etc.
