A skip pattern is a series of questions with conditional responses. Although all respondents answer most questions, some questions pertain only to certain respondents. If a specific set of subsequent questions does not apply to a respondent based on their previous answer(s), they are skipped to the next relevant question. As a hypothetical example, if the participant reports they do not own a dog early in a survey, they would be skipped over the questions about preferred dog food brands.
