Here’s a powerful tip that many of our Research Rockstar students love: use frameworks like SWOT analysis in your research reports. While it’s typically associated with business strategy, and perhaps something you last used in an MBA Marketing Research course, the SWOT framework is a surprisingly effective tool for summarizing research insights in a way that captivates readers, clients, and stakeholders. Whether you’re studying customer loyalty, brand perceptions, or product concepts, simply by categorizing findings into strengths, weaknessess, opportunities, and threats you can add value. This clear and familiar structure helps your research recipients "get" the story.
Of course, the SWOT model is only one of many that can be used in market research reports; incorporating frameworks like Start-Stop-Continue or even mapping results to the Value Chain model.
So, if you haven’t already, it might be time to update your report template with slide designs for these frameworks. Your reports will feel fresh, engaging, and most importantly, valuable to everyone who reads them!
Research Rockstar students can find these in the Rockstar Report Template found in the Writing Qualitative Research Reports course.
